The results of the fourth annual Startup Canada Awards were recently announced in regional ceremonies across the country. Beanworks CEO Catherine Dahl took home the Woman Entrepreneurship Award, presented by Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), as one of the 2017 BC Regional Winners. This year’s regional awards list for BC included nine entrepreneurs and organizations who have made an impact on the future of business in Canada.
The awards ceremony was held in downtown Kamloops, hosted by Kamloops Innovation and Startup Kamloops in a collaborative effort. Dahl, who could not attend the event in-person, sent her thanks to the regional awards committee and congratulated her fellow awards winners in a video message.
“It’s an honor to be nominated and selected for the Woman Entrepreneur Award of BC,” said Dahl. “At Beanworks, we are all excited to be part of the ecosystem that has evolved through organizations like Startup Canada, and are incredibly helpful for companies like ours that are still in our growing phase.”
Startup Canada is a national network of business leaders and entrepreneurs who collaborate through online platforms and events to promote a uniquely Canadian culture of entrepreneurship. For five years, Startup Canada has been at the epicenter of a growing movement to support entrepreneurs. As an organization, they partner with private sector businesses to fund high-impact projects such as the Startup Canada Investment Fund Program, the Startup Finance Program, and the Startup Canada Awards.
In a press release, Founder and CEO of Startup Canada, Victoria Lennox congratulated the regional award winners: “Each and every one of these outstanding recipients has an immense impact on the future of Canada and they all represent the greatness and diversity of our nation’s entrepreneurship community.”
As regional recipients, Dahl and her fellow winners will enter into the national competition where their entries will be judged by the National Adjudication Committee. The Startup Canada Awards Grand Finale ceremony is scheduled to take place in Ottawa on October 19, 2017.
